Providenciales - “Provo” Turks and Caicos Islands

The most developed island for tourism, Providenciales has a variety of world-class accommodations just waiting to be discovered. Walk miles of powder soft white sand beaches, enjoy a multitude of hues of clear blue sea and sky. It seems that most Caribbean destinations have a signature attraction and Providenciales, often referred to as Provo, is no exception. In a country themed “Beautiful By Nature”, one such trademark is a magnificent span of pristine white sand beach (Grace Bay Beach) which visitors can lazily stroll for miles. Complimenting the soft, low lying dunes is a ribbon of sparkling clear turquoise sea.

Providenciales along with its world-class diving also boasts an 18-hole championship golf course, ranked in the top 10 best Caribbean golf courses by “Caribbean Travel & Life” and is listed in the top 20 hot spots in the world for billfishing by “Sport Fishing” magazine. On land or on sea you will find plenty of activities to lure you off the beaches. A day of sailing may be just the treat that you are seeking.

Dining on Providenciales offers a variety of culinary experiences available at many excellent restaurants.

While the island lacks the large shopping malls common to some Caribbean destinations there are many “pockets” of retail activity available to our visitors. You pay NO sales tax on purchases and many items are “duty-free.”

For more in-depth information about Providenciales simply read through our cover stories for a topic of interest to you.

Whether your taste runs to elegant sophistication or sand-in-your-toes casual style you can fulfill it on Providenciales.

THE BEACHES OF PROVIDENCIALES

The protective barrier reef which surrounds Providenciales offers some of the best scuba experiences in the world. This reef also breaks the incoming surf to create the calm, iridescent turquoise waters that edge our white sand beaches. Find the beach of your dreams! No matter where you go, you won’t find a crowd. Remember to use protective sun screen and take water to drink, especially if you travel off the beaten path. Please do not litter.

All beaches in the Turks and Caicos Islands are public from the low tide line to the dune line. Please look for and use marked public access routes and do not use private property for beach access or exploration.

Do not leave valuables unattended either on the beach or in your car. It is recommended to not leave anything in your car at beach accesses or in remote areas. Leave your car unlocked so thieves do not have to break a window to discover there is nothing inside. When travelling to our remote areas it is always wise to carry a cell phone and drinking water.
